MILF: Some see the term as derogatory, but one mother is celebrating it on a new website

Wright hopes her site will appeal to Suzy Homemaker types and stripper moms alike.

Abi Wright loves her daughters. She also loves a good penis joke, like this one, which she recently passed along via Twitter: “Life is like a penis: simple, soft, straight, relaxed and hanging freely. Then women make it hard.” She loves sex and feeling sexy. She isn’t afraid to show off a little cleavage, and she looks damn fine when she does.

In other words, Wright is a MILF.

For anyone not familiar with the acronym, MILF stands for “Mother I’d Like to F*ck.” While many feel the term is derogatory, Wright sees it as a compliment. The 30-year-old Las Vegan says she wears her MILF badge with honor, and she wants other women to start doing the same.

That’s why Wright and a silent male business partner based in Miami launched MILFAdvisor.com in October. The site brands the MILF acronym as “Musings & Insight on Life & Femininity,” and playfully twists the acronym elsewhere into “Men I’d Like to Friend” or “Mom I’d Like to Facebook.”

Some of the content reads like Cosmopolitan, with articles like “6 Reasons Why Your Man Will Cheat on You” and the tongue-in-cheek “Roasting Tenderloin To Get Some ‘Tenderloin.’” Other articles attempt to shed light on love, parenting and sexuality. In one, a professional mistress speaks about her life as a submissive. In another, a relationship coach ruminates on the existence of “the one.”

“Who is the woman behind the mom title? That’s what we are getting at,” Wright says.

Being a mother shouldn’t define a woman, but often women let it, she says. For instance, a woman might shy away from talking about sex because she feels that good moms are modest. Another woman might not talk about what she wants, because she believes she will come across as selfish, and mothers are supposed to put their kids first.

Wright says she, too, has gotten caught up in mommy-overload but eventually learned that she needs to be herself, penis jokes and all. Turns out, doing that didn’t compromise her as a good mother.

“I have a lot of girlfriends who seem to want the whole Betty Crocker, homemaker thing,” Wright says. “I know that even with them, they want to feel sexy, they want to acknowledge their inner beauty.”

Wright hopes MILFAdvisor will appeal to both Suzy Homemaker types and stripper moms. She wants to grow the content to include topics like gold-digging, cougars and alternative sexuality, as well as expand offerings for both single and married moms.

“It’s about female empowerment,” she says. “Having children doesn’t mean you have to slow down. You are still allowed to do adult things once the kids go to bed.”
