A man who was shot to death Wednesday morning in a possible attempt to rob a pawnshop has been identified as 18-year-old Jhalon Glass.

Glass died after exchanging gunfire with an employee at the Cash America SuperPawn store in the 7000 block of North Durango Drive about 9:30 a.m., Metro Police reported.

Police said Glass, who was armed with a gun, may have attempted to rob the store. It is unclear how many shots were fired between him and the employee and if any customers were in the store. No other injuries were reported, however.

The Clark County Coroner’s office said Glass died from multiple gunshots wounds to the head and chest.

Metro spokesman Jacinto Rivera said Glass had a criminal record, but would not release the specifics, citing the ongoing investigation.

North Las Vegas Police spokesman Tim Bedwell said Glass, who turned 18 in May, was arrested last month for possession of a stolen gun and possession of marijuana.

Although it is unclear where Glass is from, Clark County School District spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson said he was a 12th grader in the school district. This year, he enrolled in Spring Valley High School and Legacy High School, but was not actively attending at the time of his death.

“He went to both within this school year. But at the time of the incident, he was not enrolled in those schools,” Fulkerson.

Tony Twist, regional vice president for SuperPawn, issued the following statement: "At SuperPawn, our first concern is for the safety of our customers and coworkers," he said. "Currently, we are fully cooperating with authorities to sort through the details of this unfortunate incident.”

Police have made no arrests in the shooting.
