Summerlin Rotary group seeks donations for book drive

As Nevada schools face impending budget cuts, the Rotary Club of Las Vegas-Summerlin is searching for new and gently used books as part of its February book drive.

The club, in partnership with Spread the Word Nevada, is asking for books for children ranging from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Books will then be cleaned as needed and donated to Spread the Word, which will provide them to Clark County children who do not have access to books at home.

Summerlin Rotary Club members volunteered their businesses as drop-off locations for those interested in donating: Dr. James White, DDS, 1140 N. Town Center Drive, Suite 170; Malinda Maile, UBS, 10801 W. Charleston Blvd.; DoubleTree Club Hotel, 7250 Pollock Drive; Gregg Townsend, Ameriprise, 7477 W. Lake Mead Blvd., Suite 110; and Tournament Players' Club, 1700 Village Center Circle.

The final day to donate is Feb. 28. The books will be given to students during Nevada Reading Week, March 1-8. For more information, call 658-4425 or 473-1153.
