A missing Las Vegas man who was found dead Friday evening in a desert area near Jean killed himself, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Michael Angelo Jr., 46, died of a gunshot wound to the chest. The coroner ruled his death a suicide.

Angelo's disappearance set off a nearly weeklong search by family and police. He was last seen Sunday afternoon in the area of Silverado Ranch Boulevard and Eastern Avenue.

Metro Police officials said they found his body outside his truck in a desert area near Jean, about 14 miles south of the edge of the Las Vegas Valley.

Police had released details last week about Angelo and his pickup truck in the hopes the public would be able to find him. His family also had been passing out fliers.
