One injured in shooting at North Las Vegas skate park

702 Skatepark

Gunfire early this morning at the 702 Skatepark in North Las Vegas injured one person, police said.

North Las Vegas Police spokesman Timothy Bedwell said officers responded at 2:07 a.m. to the 702 Skatepark, 3040 Simmons St., for reports of shots fired.

Police found a victim with a gunshot wound that wasn't life-threatening, Bedwell said. The person's age and gender have not been released.

Police questioned several people, but no one has been taken into custody, he said. It's unclear what led to the shooting.

The shooting comes on the heels of nearby business owners complaining about teens causing problems during the night near the skateboard park, Bedwell said.

"This has already been a concern for us," he said.

As police investigate the shooting, they are looking into the disturbances reported recently in the area.
