North Las Vegas police are searching for a suspect they have identified as being involved in a domestic disturbance Monday morning.

The suspect, 22-year-old Troy Usu, is a convicted felon, is considered dangerous and is thought to still be in the neighborhood of the incident on Rancho Del Mar Way, police said.

Usu is described as an Asian male, 5-foot-9 and 150 pounds with brown hair and eyes. He has a tattoo on his neck that reads “Felon” and one near his left eye with three dots.

Police also identified a woman arrested in the disturbance, Pilar Juarez-Venegas, 38, of North Las Vegas. She was charged with obstructing a police officer in the incident that occurred at a home on the 500 block of Rancho Del Mar Way near Washburn Road and Commerce Street. Police responded to a second domestic disturbance call there Monday afternoon.

While responding to the first call at 9:15 a.m., a city police officer shot and killed a pit bull that bit him while pursuing the suspect through a backyard. The dog belonged to the residents of the home. Police said Juarez-Venegas interfered in the officer's attempt to detain Usu in the residence before he fled. Had police been able to detain him inside, the officer and the dog would have avoided contact.

According to an official report, the injured officer been released from University Medical Center and is recuperating at home.
