Law Enforcement:

Authorities confiscate illegal fireworks during raid in NLV

Illegal fireworks raid

After an all-day investigation that began with a traffic stop, the North Las Vegas Fire Department and other agencies on Thursday raided a storage yard and confiscated hundreds of illegal fireworks, authorities said.

At the yard near Alto Avenue and Bledsoe Lane, officials found a 54-foot trailer and a large shipping container at least three-quarters full of illegal fireworks, North Las Vegas Fire Department officials said.

It was the largest raid of its type in North Las Vegas, fire department Sgt. Cedric Williams said.

“It’s a lot of bad stuff off the street. Hopefully we saved somebody from injury or even death,” Williams said.

Williams could not provide any details about how the traffic stop led to the illegal fireworks.

No arrests had been made, though multiple people were being questioned, he said.

Other agencies participating in the investigation and raid were the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Metro Police, Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue.
