A voice for all of us, not just a select few

Thanks for the two Joe Schoenmann public-service articles in Sunday’s Las Vegas Sun — “Union pressed, sick leave falls” and “Firefighters’ endorsement not so coveted these days.”

For those of us who have been following the Clark County firefighters’ sick leave and overtime abuses, it is becoming readily apparent that prosecutable crimes have been committed by a number of Clark County firefighters. It is also becoming readily apparent that Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins is a strong supporter and advocate of the firefighters union and absolutely refuses to recognize these very apparent abuses.

The question is whether Commissioner Collins feels he has any responsibility to the voters of his district to honestly address these abuses. It appears to me that he does not. The majority of Clark County voters can be thankful they have a strong voice in Commissioner Steve Sisolak who, unlike Commissioner Collins, is trying to fairly represent the interests of all his constituents and not just the favored few.
