Why, oh, why do we not have a lottery here? We cry, because of lack of money, that our schools are going to suffer and that many other things are put on hold. Most other states have lotteries, and they certainly help the economy.
Some people say casinos are afraid they would lose out because the public would be buying lottery tickets. Baloney. Even those who are struggling and can’t afford to gamble at a casino would probably buy a $1 lottery ticket.
I can’t believe casino owners are afraid that people who would buy a $1 ticket occasionally would take away their business. What are they afraid of?
Think of the people going to California every week to buy a lottery ticket when they could be buying one here and helping Nevada instead of California.
