Metro Police released surveillance video Monday recorded in a taxicab moments before its driver was shot and killed last week in the area of Mt. Hood Street and Carey Avenue in the northeast valley.

Metro is asking for the public’s help in identifying the man and woman shown in the video, deeming them “persons of interest.”

The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the 30-year-old cabdriver Monday as Tesfaye Arze, of Las Vegas, saying he died of a gunshot wound to the head. The coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Officers responded at 3:36 a.m. Friday to reports of shots fired in the 6300 block of High Sierra Avenue, near Mt. Hood Street and Carey Avenue. Police found Arze dead in the street near the taxi.

Investigators believe a robbery was the motive in the shooting. Police determined the victim might have picked up a group tied to the shooting at another location before arriving in the area of High Sierra Avenue.

Anyone with information about the identities or whereabouts of the two persons of interest depicted in the video are being urged to call Metro's Homicide Section at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
