Las Vegas motorcyclist killed in collision with car

Fatal motorcycle crash

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed Saturday night when he slammed into a car that made a U-turn in front of him on Warm Springs Road at the intersection of Spencer Street, Metro Police said.

Metro said the motorcycle was headed west on Warm Springs about 7:20 p.m., approaching the intersection, while the car, which had been headed east, was making a U-turn at the intersection.

The car entered into the path of the motorcycle, causing the rider to brake, police said. The rider was ejected and he and the bike slid into the side of the car, police said.

The Las Vegas man, who was not identified pending notification of his family, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car, Penny Casey, 50, of Gilbert, Ariz., and a 26-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries, police said.

The crash remains under investigation. It was the 11th traffic fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
