Metro Police have arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly stole a car Saturday afternoon with a toddler in the backseat.

Josh Todd was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with possession of a stolen vehicle, grand larceny auto, and first-degree kidnapping and child endangerment charges.

The situation unfolded Saturday afternoon when Todd allegedly hopped into the vehicle at an apartment complex near Pecos and Desert Inn roads when the mother was busy taking another child out of the car, police said.

Authorities said Todd then drove off with a 2-year-old boy still strapped in a car seat. The boy was dropped off unharmed a short time later at a motel on Boulder Highway.

Police recovered the car and arrested Todd early Sunday morning in the 4000 block of Boulder Highway.

Todd is scheduled to make his first court appearance Tuesday morning, according to jail records. He is being held without bail at the detention center.
