Victim identified in fatal Thursday night shooting

The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified a man shot to death Thursday night following an argument with anther man in the northeast valley.

Sergio Lopez, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the coroner. His death was ruled a homicide.

Metro Police were dispatched shortly before 7:30 p.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired in the 5600 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near Christy Lane. Upon arrival, they found Lopez lying in the street with gunshot wounds, officials said.

Police said the gunman fled eastbound on Lake Mead Boulevard after the shooting.

Investigators said Lopez had been visiting family at a nearby residence. When he left, a Hispanic man confronted him and an argument ensued, police said.

The suspect allegedly pulled a handgun and shot Lopez multiple times before fleeing the scene, police said. Authorities said he was wearing a white tank top, blue jean shorts and a dark ball cap.
