Leave the jacket behind today — another warm and mostly sunny afternoon, with temperatures climbing to the 80-degree mark, is heading to Las Vegas.

Generally dry and warm conditions will continue through today before a Pacific storm moves into the area on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm will result in cooler temperatures, areas of gusty winds and a chance of showers mainly across central Nevada late Wednesday and Thursday, the weather service said.

The storm could bring a few inches of snow in the higher elevations of Lincoln County Wednesday night and Thursday morning, forecasters said.

Another storm is likely to bring gusty winds Friday followed by chances for valley rain and mountain snow Saturday through Monday, they said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 58 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 47 degrees. The record low was 26 degrees, set in 1962.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 61 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 56 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 56 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 64 degrees by 9 a.m., to 75 degrees by noon and reach a high of 80 degrees by 3 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 69 degrees and the record high was 87 degrees, set in 2007.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 78 degrees by 6 p.m., to 70 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 65 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Wednesday's morning low will be 59 degrees and Wednesday's high will climb to 80 degrees, they said.
