LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Parents, schools have a resource to help stop bullying

Saturday’s Las Vegas Sun editorial, “Everyone’s responsibility,” focused on the needs to stop school bullying. One of the many services that Nevada PEP provides parents of children with disabilities is suggestions for ways of dealing with bullying. Unfortunately, people with disabilities are frequently targeted by bullies.

Nevada PEP assists schools by providing bullying prevention bulletin boards, pledge bookmarks and suggestions on schoolwide bullying announcements. Nevada PEP also provides “Is Your Child a Target of Bullying?” workshops for parents so they can learn strategies to address bullying issues with their children. For additional information, call 388-8899 or visit our website nvpep.org.

The writer is executive director of Nevada PEP, a statewide nonprofit organization that supports parents of children with disabilities.
