Comedian Rickles was a big part of Sahara’s lore

Regarding John Katsilometes’ Saturday piece about the Sahara, “Celebrities made resort the ‘in’ place to be in LV”:

I worked in the Congo Room at the Sahara in the mid-1960s with Liza Minnelli. I don’t see how one could write a piece about what attracted so many great stars to the hotel without mentioning Don Rickles.

Every star who played or visited Las Vegas at that time showed up in the Casbah Lounge to be razzed by the great Don Rickles. He was a great part of the history of the Sahara.
