Nevada Wonk

Gov. Brian Sandoval silent on his picks for Las Vegas mayor, 2nd Congressional District candidate

Will Gov. Brian Sandoval support Sharron Angle in her bid to represent Nevada's 2nd Congressional District?

The governor's response was lukewarm. He's waiting to see if Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki throws his hat into the race.

"She's the first announced candidate, and we'll wait to see what other candidates choose to get into that race," Sandoval said Friday.

Sandoval noted that Angle works extremely hard and has a solid support network, but declined to endorse her.

Many Republicans are less than thrilled at her candidacy, given her defeat against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in last November's Senate race.

"I'm going to watch like everyone else," Sandoval said.

The governor also steered clear of making an endorsement in the Las Vegas mayoral race.

"Any one of them would do a good job," he said. "I have lots of friends in the race."
