Prepare to be wowed as young artists take to the stage with the Henderson Symphony Orchestra on Sunday.

The local student musicians – sixth- to 12th-graders – auditioned in January to perform solos with the orchestra during the 14th annual Young Artists Competition concert at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway.

The concert will begin with performances by home-schooled sophomore Tussah Heera, who will play Chopin’s “Piano Concerto #1.” Tussah will be followed by Advanced Technologies Academy senior Tammy Hung, who will play Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto in D.” Tamas Hoka, an Odyssey Charter School sophomore, will close out the first half of the concert with Sarasate’s “Gypsy Airs.”

The second half of the show will highlight two Las Vegas Academy students and one of the youngest musicians to perform in the competition. Academy junior Grace Hauen Kim will perform Haydn’s “Piano Concerto in D,” followed by Bob Miller Middle School sixth-grader Victoria Young, performing Bach’s “Piano Concerto in D.” Rounding out the concert is Academy senior David Chavez playing Hendemith’s “Tauermusik” on the viola.

Residents are invited to the concert starting at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
