Despite slight weekend warmup, gusty winds will linger

Keep that windbreaker handy this weekend: Although more spring-like temperatures will return to the Las Vegas Valley, the blustery weather will persist through Monday.

A Pacific storm moving across the region today and tonight will bring southwesterly winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters issued a wind advisory this morning for part of the Spring Mountains, but the valley wasn't included.

Today’s high will reach about 66 degrees with a few clouds left over from a previous storm system. The low will drop to 48 degrees early Saturday with winds subsiding to around 10 mph after midnight.

Weekend temperatures will rise to 68 degrees on Saturday and 72 degrees on Sunday, but the National Weather Service warns that gusty winds will remain through Monday. Rain is possible in the Southern Nevada mountains this weekend, but forecasters said the valley should stay dry.

Temperatures next week are expected to be in the 70s. The average high temperature on today's date is 72 degrees, according to weather service records.
