Metro Police said two people were shot this afternoon in the northeast valley in what is believed to be a gang-related incident.

Lt. Ted Snodgrass said numerous shots were fired during the incident at an apartment complex at 2068 N. Nellis Blvd., near Lake Mead Boulevard. The shooting happened about 4:10 p.m.

The victims, described as two younger males, were taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit with injuries not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said. Shots hit one victim in the leg and another in the abdomen.

Snodgrass said it appears an argument ensued between the victims and the suspects before the shooting. Multiple people on the ground shot at the victims, who had moved up to a porch area at the apartment complex, he said.

Police haven't found the gunmen, who left the scene after the shooting.

Metro's gang unit responded to the double shooting because the gunmen using gang-related language, Snodgrass said.
