Clark County School District Police arrested a West Prep Academy School teacher Tuesday afternoon who is accused of abusing a special needs student.

Margaret Boyett was arrested without incident and booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with felony child abuse and felony coercion with force, Detective Mitch Maciszak said.

Maciszak said campus officers were alerted to the alleged abuse of the boy, who is 12 or 13, on Feb. 9 and then notified detectives.

Detectives then began an investigation, which led to Boyett’s arrest, Maciszak said.

School District officials said Boyett, 41, is a special education teacher at West Prep and was hired August 12, 2009.
