Henderson’s Water Street revamped for new bus line

Part of Henderson’s Water Street is getting a makeover in preparation for a new express bus line.

Work on Water Street began Wednesday for road improvements and new bus stops for the Boulder Highway Express.

The line will run down Boulder Highway from downtown Las Vegas to Henderson, detouring to Water Street from Lake Mead Parkway to Basic Road.

Henderson has been planning improvements to Water Street between Lake Mead Parkway and Pacific Avenue, so the RTC and the city agreed to include the new bus stops into the project with the RTC reimbursing $700,000 for part of the cost of improvements and the bus stops.

The project includes stops near Army and Atomic streets.

During the project, motorists will see lane restrictions on both Water Street and Basic Road, but businesses along the corridor will be accessible, the RTC said.

Work on the project is expected to be complete in May and the new bus line is scheduled to begin service this fall.
