Metro Police said a man apparently committed suicide Monday night by jumping from the 11th floor of the El Cortez in downtown Las Vegas.
Police responded to the incident at 9:10 p.m. after the man landed on Ogden Avenue near 6th Street.
Police said suicide was suspected, but the official cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office. The man's name wasn't released Monday night.
Roads in the area were closed while police investigated.
El Cortez Located in downtown Las Vegas, the El Cortez is one of the city's longest-standing hotel-casinos.
The 45,000 square foot casino includes more than 1,000 slots, blackjack, craps, keno, Pai Gow poker, roulette and Megabucks. The poker room offers three tables of Texas Hold 'Em and seven-card stud.
Dining choices at El Cortez include The Flame Steakhouse, where steaks and seafood are served Wednesdays through Sundays, and Cafe Cortez, where comfort food favorites are served 24-hours a day.
