Iggy Pop cancels Sept. 10 show in Las Vegas after foot fractures

Dig out your Get Well cards, Stooges fans.

Iggy & The Stooges’ scheduled Sept. 10 Las Vegas date at the Joint has been postponed after the 64-year-old punk godfather suffered “multiple fractures” in his left foot when he tripped over a mic stand during a show in Romania on Aug. 27, according to a press release from concert promoter AEG Live.

“After several days of rest at his Cayman Islands home, his need for medical attention became apparent,” the release explains. “[His doctor] has confirmed a pair of fractures in the metatarsal of Pop’s left foot and instructed the singer to take six-to-eight-week hiatus from performing.”

Tickets for the canceled gig will be honored at the makeup show, although a new date won’t be announced until Iggy “receives medical clearance,” according to the release. Refunds are also being offered at points of purchase.

The Stooges, widely considered to be among punk rock’s key early forebears, are best known for first three albums The Stooges (1969), Fun House (1970) and Raw Power (1973). The band’s current lineup features Iggy, guitarist James Williamson, bassist Mike Watt and drummer Scott Asheton.
