The Strip finally gets the full Deadmau5 experience

Man of the night: Deadmau5 and his head put on one mighty show.

Neon tutus and tank tops. An awesome stage. Glow sticks everywhere. Scantily clad girls. This past weekend, Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Ballroom looked like a scene from the epic Electric Daisy Carnival.

That’s really no surprise, though, as internationally esteemed beatmeister Deadmau5 took the venue’s stage for a two-night stint that marked the first time the man of many heads has brought his full production to Las Vegas. While the crowd came for his beats, the mau5 head was a spectacle in itself—the thing was covered in LED lights and programmed to periodically flash words and characters throughout the DJ’s set.

From the time he took the stage on Friday around 12:30 a.m. until his set concluded nearly two hours later, the sea of fans jumped, fist-pumped and sang along (when the music called for it) to the artist’s electronic awesomeness.

Celebrity Deadmau5 junkie Paris Hilton showed at Friday night’s edition, even taking the stage dressed as a ghost during the producer’s dance hit “Ghosts ’n’ Stuff.” It wasn’t just his original material that got the crowd going, though. Cheers exploded when Deadmau5 dropped classic Daft Punk hit “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.”

After returning onstage to wrap his set with an encore, Deadmau5 stepped in front of the booth to acknowledge an appreciative crowd that refused to die down, even after he left the stage. The crowd looked ready to rage and rave all night long. And after two hours of killer dance music, I was ready, too.
