Tropicana Avenue lane closures extended until Sept. 26

Lane closures

Work on Paradise Road near McCarran International Airport will keep lanes on Tropicana Avenue closed longer than expected.

The installation of new signs for the airport closed lanes on Tropicana about two weeks ago. Those lane restrictions were scheduled to end this weekend, but airport officials said Friday the restrictions would continue until Sept. 26.

The closure is limiting access to southbound Paradise Road from eastbound Tropicana, the primary route for people leaving the resort corridor to get to the airport.

Tropicana is reduced to three eastbound lanes, and the dedicated right-turn lanes to Paradise are closed. Motorists can still turn right at the intersection but only when all eastbound lanes have a green signal.

The lane restrictions are to allow crews to install the structure for a new 60-foot-wide electronic sign over Paradise.

The signs will direct passengers to the proper terminal when the new Terminal 3 opens next year. Similar signs will be installed near Russell Road and on the Las Vegas Beltway.

The signs will show general roadway information until the new terminal opens. The electronic signs will allow messages to be easily updated once the terminal opens and as airlines change location and services.
