Debating the valley's best kicker

Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer engage in a wide-ranging high school football conversation. In addition to their usual recap and upcoming picks, they discuss the area's best kickers.

The Durango High football team on Friday blanked host Clark, 41-0.

Anthony Collins had two touchdowns for the Trailblazers, including a punt return for a score. A.J. McQuaig added a pair of touchdowns for Durango (2-3, 2-2 Southwest) and Hunter Knight also had a touchdown.

“We came out and played well,” Durango coach Gary Maki said. “Things went as we hoped they would for once. It was probably our best outing of the year.”

Last week, Durango lost a high-scoring affair to Bonanza, 38-29, in a game it easily could have won.

“We felt we let one slip away last week against Bonanza,” Maki said.
