QUICK HITS:

Gorman to play host to all-star hoops event Wednesday night

Several top prep prospects from near and far will take part in five-game session

For those who just can't wait until November to see the star-studded squads at Bishop Gorman and Findlay Prep take the floor, Wednesday night will be your first chance to see some of the Gaels and Pilots go at it.

Gorman's main gym will be the site for the Full Court Press Las Vegas Showcase, being put on by Dinos Trigonis, who coaches Belmont Shore — the AAU club that features UNLV commit Katin Reinhardt — and organizer of the Pangos All-American Camp.

The event will feature five games, running from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., with players from both near and far taking part.

The 5 p.m. game will feature eighth- and ninth-graders, including 6-foot-11 Gorman frosh Stephen Zimmerman, who already has scholarship offers from the likes of UNLV, UCLA, Kansas and UConn.

At 6 p.m., the sophomore game will tip, followed by the junior game at 7 p.m. and the senior game at 8 p.m.

At 9 p.m. comes an all-star run of sorts, which will pit most of Gorman's standouts against those from Findlay.

Among the locals expected to compete are Gorman's Shabazz Muhammad — the nation's unanimous No. 1 prospect in the 2012 class — Rosco Allen, Demetris Morant and Ben Carter, Findlay Prep's Christian Wood, Brandon Ashley, Anthony Bennett, Winston Shepard, Nigel Williams-Goss and Dominic Artis.

Reinhardt, a senior at Mater Dei (Calif.), will also make the trip up to take part in the event.

The event is open to the public, and admission is $10.
