Tina Kunzer-Murphy has resigned as the executive director of the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas. She held the position since 2001, when ESPN Regional Television took over ownership and operation of the game.

Tina Kunzer-Murphy has stepped down as executive director of the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, it was announced Wednesday.

Kunzer-Murphy joined ESPN in 1999 and oversaw the bowl since 2001, the first year that ESPN Regional Television (ERT) owned it. She helped guide the bowl through three title sponsors and helped it achieve great success.

“After celebrating the milestone of the 20th game and sellouts in six of the last seven games, it is time for me to move on from ESPN and the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas having accomplished all I set out to do,” Kunzer-Murphy said in a news release. “As a native Las Vegan, this game is something we can all be proud of both locally and on the national stage.”

She previously worked in the athletic departments at UNLV, Pacific and the Western Athletic Conference.

“We are appreciative of Tina’s guidance and stewardship of the bowl during her tenure,” said Pete Derzis, a senior vice president and general manager at ERT. “Tina’s passion and commitment to the bowl have been at the core of the game’s success and we wish her the best in her next endeavor.”

The MAACO Bowl Las Vegas is one of seven bowl games owned and operated by ERT. This year, the game, which features representatives from the Pac-12 and Mountain West, will be played on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 12:30 p.m.
