Metro Police say this man, shown in a surveillance video, is suspected in a string of robberies that began in April and ended June 18. Authorities dubbed him the “Mustache Bandit,” since during the first several robberies, the man had a large, bushy mustache.

A man dubbed the “mustache bandit,” who police allege robbed multiple sandwich and electronics shops earlier this year, has been indicted by a Clark County grand jury.

The 49-count criminal indictment unsealed Wednesday against 45-year-old Troy Mullner includes charges of burglary, robbery, first-degree kidnapping, coercion, attempted robbery, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, attempted robbery with use of a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon.

Metro Police said the robberies began in mid-April and ended June 30 after detectives tied Mullner to the crimes, according to arrest reports.

Mullner, who told police he needed money for alcohol and methamphetamine, allegedly simulated having a handgun under his shirt when robbing Subway, Port of Subs and Radio Shack stores, the report states. Thirteen of the robberies occurred in Las Vegas, and one happened in Henderson, police said.

Early on, several victims described the robber as having either a mustache or goatee, police said. In late June, two officers driving near Eastern Avenue and Warm Springs Road stopped a man — later identified as Mullner — who fit the suspect’s description, police said.

The next day, on June 30, another robbery occurred at a Subway on Charleston Boulevard, according to the arrest report. Witness descriptions of the suspect’s vehicle matched a 1994 Oldsmobile Silhouette van registered to Mullner.

Police apprehended Mullner at a Las Vegas residence and interviewed him at police headquarters, where he admitted to committing the 14 robberies — a crime spree he said was fueled by his addictions, the arrest report states.

Jail records indicate Mullner remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center without bail.
