UNLV forward Carlos Lopez loses the ball while getting double teamed by McGill University’s Rodrigo Imperador, left, and Aleksandar Mitrovic during their game Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in Montreal. The Runnin’ Rebels beat the Redmen 74-59 to close out their Canada trip at 4-0.

MONTREAL — Anthony Marshall led the Rebels with 17 points as UNLV closed out its exhibition tour with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating McGill 74-59 on Tuesday night at Love Competition Hall.

Justin Hawkins scored 12 points and Savon Goodman chipped in 11.

The first half was an ugly affair, with UNLV shooting less than 40 percent from the field and just 1-for-10 behind the three-point line. Things changed quickly in the second half after the Rebels applied full-court pressure and looked much more crisp on offense. That didn’t last the whole time, though, and UNLV’s troubles with consistency flashed again in the finale.

McGill got as close as nine in the second half, but most of the game as played with the Rebels ahead by about 12. UNLV led by as much as 18.

Overall, UNLV coach Dave Rice will have a lot for his team to learn from over the upcoming months as it prepares for the most-hyped regular season in about 20 years.
