Work plans change on Airport Connector ramps

Construction work

Detours on the Airport Connector ramps at the Las Vegas Beltway won’t occur until overnight Wednesday, a Clark County official said today.

The ramps between the Airport Connector and the beltway were to have been closed Monday night as part of a bridge expansion project, but now the work won’t take place until 7 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, said Dan Kulin, a county spokesman.

Northbound traffic on the connector will be directed to eastbound Warm Springs Road before heading back to the beltway and west to the Airport Connector Tunnel. Southbound drivers will be directed to an exit at Hidden Wells Road, left onto Gillespie Street, then left onto Warm Springs Road, before re-entering eastbound traffic on the beltway, Kulin said.

The tunnel north of the beltway leading to McCarran International Airport will remain open during construction, the release added.

The airport connector bridge will be the first of five bridges to be expanded under the Clark County Public Works’ I-215 Airport Connector Phase 1 project. Bridges over Paradise Road, Warm Springs Road, Robindale Road and Duck Creek will also be expanded under the federally-funded program.

The project is expected to be completed in January 2014.
