Sept. 1 marks change in residents’ watering restrictions

Beginning Sept. 1, the Southern Nevada Water Authority will be switching seasons and initiating mandatory fall watering restrictions schedule for customers.

The schedule will limit turf and drip irrigation to three specific days per week based on a customer’s assigned watering group, Water Authority officials said. Those in groups A, C and E may water their lawns Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while groups B, D and F water Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, officials said.

Officials said that sprinkler watering is prohibited on Sunday and that watering on nondesignated days will result in a water-waste fee. Sprinkler usage is still prohibited from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on all days until Oct. 1.

Hand-watering dry patches of grass is allowed anytime, officials said.

Officials urge customers to visit snwa.com to look up assigned watering days and for more information on the watering restrictions.
