Man in wheelchair dies after being hit by car

A 58-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a car while trying to cross a street in his motorized wheelchair, Metro Police said.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday, the man was struck by a 2008 Nissan Altima near Jones Boulevard and Moberly Avenue. The driver, 65-year-old Keiko Cubit remained at the scene, and police said she did not seem impaired. Police said the man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit by the car. He was then transported to University Medical Center.

The fatality was the 102nd traffic-related death in the Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
