Nevada presidential electors formalize Obama vote

Nevada's six presidential electors have cast their Electoral College ballots for President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Secretary of State Ross Miller headed a Monday afternoon meeting at the state Capitol to formalize the results of the November election, as required by law.

Nevada has six electoral voters, corresponding with its two U.S. Senators and four U.S. House representatives.

Miller told them they were fortunate to be among only 538 Americans to vote directly for president.

November's vote marked the second time Obama carried Nevada. The first was in 2008.

Miller says the six electors qualify automatically for invitations to the presidential inauguration next month in Washington, D.C.

But he notes that under a Nevada attorney general's opinion from 1901, they have to pay for the trip themselves.
