The Nye County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted an adult female, fought a man who found out about the attack and robbed the residence of an elderly woman, all in the same night.

Authorities said detectives found Robert Maughan, 26, of Pahrump, bleeding from the head Thursday night near Irons Street and Linda Street in Pahrump.

When deputies found Maughan, he told them he had been in an altercation with another man at a nearby trailer park. Maughan was found to be in possession of an electronic stun device and a substantial amount of jewelry and other property, officials reported.

Detectives say an investigation into the fight revealed that Maughan had allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a nearby residence several hours earlier and was confronted and beaten by a man who found out about the attack.

The investigation also uncovered a burglary to the residence of an elderly woman that day, officials said. The sheriff's office reported that detectives found the jewelry in Maughan’s possession had been stolen from the home after a forcible entry was made through the front door.

Maughan admitted to detectives that he had broken into the home and stolen the property after being beaten over the sexual assault allegation, officials said.

After being treated for his injuries, Maughan was arrested in connection with sexual assault, burglary, home invasion, possession of stolen property and possession of an electronic stun device by a felon.

He is being held at the Nye County Sheriff’s Office detention center in lieu of bail for $65,500.

The investigation into the crimes is ongoing.
