The second of two prison inmates who escaped from a forestry work crew in May has been captured, Metro Police said.

Spike Brown, 31, was found on Monday by Metro's Criminal Apprehension Team at the Alexis Park Hotel on East Harmon Avenue, near the Las Vegas Strip, and was taken into custody without incident, police said. Metro's CATS team is a multijurisdiction task force composed of members from Metro, the FBI and Henderson Police.

Brown — along with fellow inmate Jonathan Jackson, 29 — escaped from a prison work crew on May 9, police said.

An inmate transport vehicle had pulled over and stopped on northbound U.S. 95 near the Interstate 15 interchange when two of the 12 inmates on board claimed they were sick, according to the Department of Corrections. While the vehicle was stopped, Brown and Jackson ran away toward I-15, authorities said.

Jackson was recaptured two days later by Metro, but Brown remained at large until Monday, police said.

Brown is serving a four- to 10-year sentence for possession of stolen property and a consecutive term of one to six years for being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm.

Jackson is serving a two- to five-year sentence for conspiracy to commit a violent crime and a concurrent three- to eight-year sentence for car theft.
