Shooting leaves man in critical condition

Two people were shot after a dispute between neighbors on Thursday in the northwest valley, leaving one victim battling for his life, Metro Police officials said.

Officials said Metro Police dispatch received a call about shots being fired around 9:40 p.m. at the 6900 block on Hopkins Drive near Hollywood Boulevard and Carey Avenue. Officials said a man had been shot in the chest and was rushed to the University Medical Center trauma unit in critical condition. A second, female victim suffered a minor shot wound in the arm and was treated on-scene, officials said.

Officials said several people, including one suspected shooter, were involved in the incident. The search for the shooter continues.

Both the victims and the suspect were believed to be involved in gangs, officials said.
