Henderson has been named one of the most romantic cities in the country for singles ages 50 and older, according to a ranking released today by the dating website OurTime.com.

The city placed 4th on the site’s list of the “Top 10 Most Romantic Cities of 50+ Singles,” coming in behind Fresno, Calif., Long Beach, Calif., and Scottsdale, Ariz.

OurTime.com is the largest online dating community for Baby Boomer-aged singles. The ranking was drawn from user data from the site’s more than 2.5 million members, specifically examining which cities had the highest populations of members who identified themselves as “highly romantic” versus “unromantic.” The site also ranked the Top 10 “flirtiest” and “least flirty” cities for Boomers.

While Henderson’s older singles strive to be swept off their feet, the East Coast proved to be more pragmatic: New York City, Brooklyn and Washington, D.C., topped the list of the least romantic cities of 50+ singles.

Perhaps it's the desert heat that helps keep the fire alive -- OurTime.com noted that the cities topping the “Most Romantic” and “Flirtiest” lists all tended to be in warmer climates.

“Make sure the outdoors and fresh air play a role in your dates,” said OurTime.com relationship expert Dr. Terri Orbuch. “There are so many options for romantic dates outside, especially over the summer. Plan a date at a park, beach, have a picnic or go to an outdoor concert. Fresh air and the outdoors can add a romantic flair to any date.”
