law enforcement:

Woman’s body found at home of Hoover Dam bridge jumper

Wife found dead at home of man who jumped off dam bridge

The wife of a man who committed suicide by jumping off the Hoover Dam bypass bridge on Thursday was found dead Friday night at their home in North Las Vegas, North Las Vegas Police said.

A woman’s body was found Friday night at the home co-owned by the North Las Vegas man who leapt to his death from the Hoover Dam bypass bridge last week, North Las Vegas Police said Monday.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office was trying to inform next-of-kin on Friday by calling on the home of Jacob Gerard Foreman, who committed suicide Thursday afternoon by jumping from the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, said North Las Vegas Police spokeswoman Chrissie Coon.

The Coroner’s Office became concerned when no one could be reached at the house – located on Sail Rock Place – and called North Las Vegas Police, Coon said.

Police officers were conducting a welfare check at 10 p.m. Friday at Foreman’s home where they discovered the body of a 39-year-old woman, Coon said. There were no obvious signs of foul play, meaning no obvious signs of injury or struggle, Coon said.

Police are now trying to determine if the woman’s death was a suicide, accident or homicide, Coon said. Police are awaiting the results from a coroner’s report detailing the time, cause and manner of death as well as a toxicology report, Coon said.

Coon did not release any other details about the woman’s body, in the event the death is ruled a homicide and police must launch a homicide investigation, she said. The Coroner’s Office could not be reached Monday afternoon for comment or identification of the woman.

Foreman, 39, died from multiple blunt-force injuries after committing suicide by jumping off the Hoover Dam bypass bridge, according to the Coroner’s Office.

Hoover Dam Police and Metro police spent about two hours trying to dissuade Foreman from killing himself. Foreman jumped from the Nevada side of the bridge about 12:30 p.m. Thursday, hitting rocks before his body fell into the Colorado River.

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation recovered Foreman’s body. He is the third person known to commit suicide by jumping off the bridge, which opened in 2010. Patricia Oakley, 60, of San Jose, Calif., was the first to jump on April 7, 2012.
