Early morning argument turns deadly in northern valley

An argument turned into a deadly shooting early Monday morning in the northern Las Vegas Valley, according to Metro Police.

Metro officers responded about 1:30 a.m. to a report of a disturbance on the 800 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard near North Las Vegas, police said. A fight had broken out between two men.

Arriving officers found a man who was suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said. The man was transported to UMC’s Trauma Center, where he later died.

Police apprehended Henderson resident Brenton Smith, 45, on one count of murder with a deadly weapon, officials said. The victim’s name, cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending notification of the deceased man’s next-of-kin.
