Run-down signs make city look bad

It is really great to see all the highway and local street construction going on around town. I know for many of us, this is sometimes a trying event, especially when the cones are up and no one is working on the project. But many locals are employed by these projects, and this is a good thing.

But it seems that in the midst of all the construction, the older signs are being completely neglected. Just take a look at the directional signs heading west on Sahara Avenue from Las Vegas Boulevard as you approach Interstate 15. The letters and arrows are just about gone. This condition has gotten worse over time. This is only one of the many signs throughout our city and county that need repair. Locals know where to go, but tourists are the ones who look at these signs and shake their heads. Are we really in the United States or a Third World country?

Even some of the newer signs are peeling. The manufacturer should be held accountable and pay for the repair or replacement. Those that are beyond warranty need to be attended to.
