Temps in the 70s through weekend, with chance of showers Sunday evening

The only thing that might dampen this weekend’s weather of mid- to high 70s is a light shower forecasted Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday’s high temperature is expected to be 78 degrees at McCarran International Airport, said Jim Harrison, meteorologist with the weather service. The low at the airport is forecasted around 60.

Light cloud cover and mild winds swept over the valley on Friday, Harrison said. Friday’s high temperature at McCarran International Airport reached 81 degrees after an average morning low of 60.

On Saturday, parts of Summerlin could expect a high of 74, and those in the east valley could feel temperatures around 80, Harrison said.

Temperatures in the low 70s are expected for the west valley on Sunday, and upper 70s are forecasted for the east area, he said.

A storm system moving in from the northwest will pass over the valley at the tail end of the weekend, he said.

The pressure system is expected to bring 20- to 25-mph winds and light showers Sunday night, which are predicted to clear up early Monday morning, Harrison said.
