Say that, four years ago, your business was in trouble. It had lost its way. Revenue was way down. You were losing money. You borrowed heavily to sustain the business. Ten percent of the workforce was let go. Internal steering mechanisms were unhinged from outside market factors causing the business to lose customers and focus and drift. To turn things around, you hired a new CEO. At the end of four years, you were still losing money, employment had not been restored, sales and revenue had increased only slightly, and the debt had increased by 30 percent. You are about to begin the fifth year with this CEO, whose contract is up for renewal. The question facing the board of directors is whether to renew the CEO’s contract for another four years. What should you do?

In many ways, this is the same position the United States is in and the same decision that confronts the voters. What should you do?
