Coroner IDs body found in water reclamation area; Metro says it’s the missing landscaper

Updated Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 | 10:17 a.m.

A body found Thursday in a water reclamation area near Flamingo Road and Stephanie Street is that of the Desert Rose Golf Course landscaper who has been missing since late Tuesday afternoon.

Friday morning the Clark County Coroner’s Office said the body, which was discovered at 2:43 p.m. Thursday, was Luis Lopez-Solis, a 31-year-old Las Vegas resident – not the landscaper who had been swept away during a downpour Tuesday. Minutes later, Metro Police tweeted that Luis Lopez-Solis also went by the aliases Cayentano Lopez-Solis and Calletano Lopez-Solis and was ID’d using FBI fingerprints.

The cause and manner of the landscaper’s death are still pending.

The body was about 2 1⁄2 miles downstream from the golf course where Lopez-Solis disappeared from on Tuesday.

Lopez-Solis was last seen wearing an orange safety vest and operating a front-end loader at about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday near a wash when a severe storm hit the course near East Sahara Avenue and South Nellis Boulevard, officials said. His supervisor told him he could leave due to the weather, but when the supervisor returned, the man was gone.
