Up to 2,000 cyclists riding in Viva Bike Vegas event

Motorists at Lake Mead National Recreation Area on Saturday will have to make way for up to 2,000 cyclists participating in the Viva Bike Vegas Gran Fondo Pinarello.

Park officials advise drivers to exercise caution from 6 to 11 a.m. as cyclists travel along Lake Mead Parkway and Lakeshore Road. Eventually, cyclists will exit at U.S. Highway 93 and head toward Hoover Dam, park officials said.

During the event, the park will remain open to the public, but visitors are reminded to drive carefully and share the road, officials said.

Cyclists will be traveling in a single-file line, and no parking along the course will be permitted.
