After car crash, man severely beats nearby bicyclist, police say

A man was arrested Wednesday after he assaulted a bicyclist and attempted to steal his bike at Sunset Park, Metro Police officials said.

Police responded to the incident about 5:20 p.m. at the park near Warm Springs Road and Tomiyasu Lane. Witnesses reported that the man had crashed his car into a tree, exited his car and pulled a man off his bicycle, police said.

He then began beating the bicyclist until nearby witnesses restrained him, police said. The victim was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries to the face.

Police said the man had also driven off after a collision on the 215 Beltway earlier in the evening.

  1. Sounds like someone who should NEVER DRIVE AGAIN.

  2. Obviously, he had somewhere to go.

    Book 'em, Metro.

  3. Never drive again? He should never be on the streets again. What a nut job.
