Police: KFC robbery suspect leads cops on high-speed chase

A man who allegedly robbed a KFC chicken restaurant at gunpoint led Metro Police on a 20-minute high-speed chase Sunday night before he was taken into custody, authorities said.

Metro officers responded to a robbery call at 7:43 p.m. Sunday at the KFC in the 6100 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, Officer Larry Hadfield said.

The suspect allegedly robbed the KFC with a rifle before fleeing in a car and leading officers on a high-speed chase for several miles, Hadfield said.

At one point, the car’s tires were punctured, but the man continued driving before eventually stopping on Interstate 15 near Sahara Avenue and surrendering to officers, Hadfield said. A firearm was found in the vehicle, Hadfield said.

The suspect was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
