Coroner IDs victim in car-cement mixer accident

The woman who died Wednesday in a two-vehicle collision involving a cement mixer truck has been identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Mizuki Uchida, 24, of Las Vegas, died from injuries sustained in the collision around 10:54 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Stange Avenue and Cliff Shadows Parkway in the northwestern valley.

Uchida was driving a 2000 Corolla sedan and traveling north on Stange Avenue when she turned left at a stop sign onto Cliff Shadows Parkway and into an oncoming Kenworth cement mixer dump truck, Metro Police reported. The truck struck the driver side door and continued south of the intersection.

Uchida was transported to University Medical Center, where she later died.

The collision is the 61st traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction in 2013. The accident continues under investigation.
