las vegas 51s:

51s drop series opener against New Orleans

Las Vegas 51s batters combined to hit three home runs tonight against visiting New Orleans, but it wasn’t enough in a 12-9 loss at Cashman Field.

Still, the 51s remain one game behind Sacramento for first place in the Pacific Southern Division because the River Cats also lost today.

Travis d’Arnaud went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Las Vegas, including a two-run home run in the first inning for a 2-0 Las Vegas lead. However, New Orleans scored three runs in the second inning and six in the third to take the lead for good.

Matt den Dekker and Brian Bixler each also homered for Las Vegas, which at 7:05 Tuesday hosts New Orleans in the second game of the series.
